Social stratification is a very sensitive field of study. The traditional patterns dimensions and processes of social stratification have changed in the modern times due to the forces of modernization including democracy and capitalism. The same is true about the tribal society. What is particular about about the tribal people is that they have been given certain constitutional safeguards, which lead them to the bringing about transformation among the tribals. The changes take place among the Mina and Bhil are partly due to the incompatibility of their traditional system and partly due to the impingement of the modern forces on the tribal society. The present work is an attempt to study those forces, which have mainly been responsible for social change among the Mina and Bhil of Udaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts. The study also highlights the problems which have been the result of change in the field of stratification, most specific among them being classes and ethnicity. The book will be widely used by students, researches and planners as it has systematically analysed the changing patterns of social stratification among thr tribes in Rajasthan.
