Since states performs most of the traditional functions of governmental units and deal with subjects having directm immediate and intimate impact on the furtunes of the citizens, the demand for separte statehood objective relevance. The key hypothesis of the present work is that the increasing demand for smaller and socio-economically more homogeneous state needs careful and sympathetic considerations. The author feels that the stage has arrived when we have to go from large administratively unwieldy, politically troublesome and economically states to a more reational reorganisaton based on the principles of technoeconomic viability, socio-cultural homogeneity and political manageability

Kuldeep Fadia, Gold Medalist in M.A. Political Science, holds M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. He has qualified NET (UGC) and SLET (RPSC) and worked as a Lecturer in the Post-Graduate Department of Political Science of seth Motilal College, Jhunjnu. At present he is working as a Lecturer in Political Science in Government College, Nathdwara (Rajasthan).
