The "Moss Flora of Rajasthan" furnishes the first comprehensive view of the mosses growing in various localities of the state. Floristic studies generally take into account the higher plants growing in an area which form dominant vegetation on the earth's surface. Cryptogamic flora has sttracted comparatively less attention of the taxonomists. The bryophyta flora of Inidan Sub-continent is very poorly studied except some important studies on the Himalayan region. The pioneer work on the mosses of Rajasthan is perhaps the first systematic study in the field of Bryophytes in Rajasthan which provides a key for the isentifications with taxonomic description, distribution and illustrations. This study provides a base for the further researches in the various fields of botanical sciences . The book also gives valuable information of bryoecology and afflinitics of moss flora of the state.

Dr. B.L. Chaudhary is Associate Professor in the Department of Botany, M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan. He took his post-graduate (1974) and Ph.D degrees (1979) from M.L. Sukhadia University Udaipur. He has been teaching undergraduate and post-graduate classes at university, College of Sciencem and actively engaged in doing and guiding research in the field of Bryology. He has, to his credit, twenty research papers published in various national and foreign journals of repute. He is the author/co-author of "Botanical Researches in India" and author of variuos text books, Presently he is N.S.S. coordinator and member of Board of Management of M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He is also one of the honest Director of Rajasthan SC, ST Development Corporation. Dr. G.S. Deora did his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipr and is actively engaged in the field of Bryology. He has to his credit, several research papers published in national and international journals.
