The Garasia Constitute third largest group of the state of Rajasthan thane. They are also found in the neighbouring state of Gujarat. The word Girasia is spelled differently as Grasia, Garasia, Girasia, Girressya. The correct spelling of Girasia can be determined by the dialect spoken by the tribe. The Garasias are very colourful, lively and tradition bound people. Though they live in close proximity of materialist society in which, standards are low and faishon matter more than ideas. Dr. Narendra N. Vyas has wrote authoritatively on Tribes of Rajasthan. He has worked as Director of M.L.V. Tribal Research Institute for almost three decades at Udaipur (Raj.) Besides this he had teaching post Graduate Sociology Students. The author is credited to have examined Ph.D. thesis on sociology and tribal studies. He is the founder editor of Tribe a quartely research journal of national repute and edited 33 of its Volumes and also organizes good number of national conference at smithsonian Institute, in Washington DC, U.S.A. He also Co-sponsored Xth International congress of Anthropological Science New Delhi 10-21 November 1978. He is one of the editor of (two) volumes on Rajasthan under National Project of India by Anthropological Survey of India, New Delhi, 1998. He is also Associate editor of “Profile of Indian Tribes (four Volumes)” New Delhi, 1996. Dr. Vyas has contributed immensely to the study of tribal life and culture. Through his more than forty books has described and analyzed the ethnography and development of the tribes of Rajasthan and guided 136 research studies; surveys. He has been nominated as members on various committees of national bodies like planning commission on tribal development and research, I.C.S.S.R. and Advisory council of Anthropological survey of India. Central tribal Research Institute. He is life member of Indian Sociological Society and Indian Anthropological Association.
