Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma a first class M.Sc. In Botany from the university of Rajasthan, Jaipur joined the Department of Forest, Rajasthan, as a Forester in 1980. He passed his Foretry Certificate Courde with Honours from Forest Training School, Alwar and subsequently went to Southern Forest Rangers Colege, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), for his 'Rangers' Forestry Course' which he qualified with a Honours Gold Medal. After returning from Coimbatore, he joined his parent department in Rajasthan as a Range Forest Officer. In 1991 he completed his Ph.D. in 'Plant life and Weaver Birds', from the university of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The authore is a keen nature observed. He has to his credit more than hundred research papers and articles in science journals and popular magazines. A recipient of prestigious 'Dr. Gorakh Prasad Award' in 1986 'All India Forestry Award in 1990, he has discovered and reported occurrence of many wild animals in Rajasthan. He is a leading scholar of faunal diversity of Rajasthan.
