Health literacy is a relatively new concept in the field of Medicine. The concept deals with the importance of educatimg the general public at large and specilally the patient on one hand while educating the medical fraternity which includes Doctors at top level up to the personnel at ground level, for the betterment of the patient in terms of the safety - Physical, Psychological, Social and Economical and to medical fraternity too especially in terms of their smooth working patient and also to avoid or minimize legal suits. Literacy to the patient may include include a wide range of topics like various etc...dealt in the Medical world, while edicating the medical cultural aspects of different people, understanding their level od education, language, etc.... so that, before proceeding to perform a particular procedure which may sometimes be Taboo in certain cultures, can be avoided or done only after taking the patient or his/her relatives into confidence. Similarly certain words or techniques may not be easily to the patient or their relatives, so medical personnel need to go to their level and handle the situation, In this Monograph a sincere effort has been done to explain this concept with given.
