Animal Production is the backbone of Agriculture sector in terms of income, employment, equity and sustainability. Animal Husbandry is a vital subject of the course curriculum of undergraduate degree programme in Agricultural University. Livestock management involves the integrated application of the principles of animal breeding, feeding, housing and disease control. The present manual covers the practical syllabus of undergraduates course of LPM-211 entitled “Non Ruminant Production and Management”. The objective of preparing this manual is to acquaint the students with the elementry knowledge on various aspects of pig and poultry production and to enable the students to understand and make them proficient in efficient management of poultry and pig. The present manual covers the practical with objectives, material required, procedure, steps to fellow, precautions to be taken, observations to be recorded and exercise to be done by the students.
