In order to ensure food security, the interest in husbandry of animals and fishes is growing at every level. For fisheries to be sustainable it is essential to develop trained human resources in the field of fisheries and allied SAUs and other traditional Universities are actively engaged in the formal teaching programmes of fisheries. Thus a number of aspirants are undertaking UG, PG and higher degree courses in the field of fisheries and appearing in various competitive examinations such as ASRB and others for employment. For the teaching research and extension positions in fisheries the need for suitable study material is the basic requirement for job seeking candidates. Even in the formal teaching programmes of fisheries the need for sucj type of rapid fire reading material was felt since long for the students. The present publication is out come to met this requirement. Through ekeven chapters containing about 2000 objective type questions in this book an attempt has been made to cover various important subdisciplines of fishery science. In the preparation of this publication the help and cooperation received from faculty members, officers and students are gratefully acknowledged. Since this is the first attempt in this field there is scope to further enrich and improve this publication for which constructive and valuable suggestions from from the users are invited.

Dr. N.C. Ujjania, Assistant Professor (Fisheries), Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur has his M.Sc. (Limnology & Fisheries) with goldmedal in 1997 from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner and Ph.D. (Fisheries Resources Management) from Central Institute of Fisheries Education (Deemed University, ICAR) Mumbai. Dr. Ujjania worked at KFUPM, Dhahran (KSA) as Fisheries Biologist for UN sponsored project and subsequently in a research on fish and fisheries. Dr. Ujjania has published over 20 publication including research papers, research reports, extension manuals etc. and two books. Presently he is attached with KVK (Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology) Kota and working with the farmers for extensions of aquacultural activities. Dr. L.L. Sharma (Associate Professor and Head, Department of Aquaculture. Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur) passed his M.Sc. (Zoology) in First Division with specialization in Limnology and Fisheries in 1973 from the M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur and did his Ph.D. in 1980 on "Limnogical aspects of Udaipur waters in comparison to selected waters of Rajasthan" from the same University. He has been an active scholar in the field of Environment and Limnology for the last over 30 years and has contributed 70 research papers and 33 popular articles on different aspects of aquatic encology, fisheries and environment in reputed journals.
