Use of medicinal plants to cure a number of disease has always attracted the attention of chemists, biologists and doctors. Although field has been investigated for a long, but it gained momentum in last few decades only and that too, with the development of refined separation methods and newer spectroscopic techniques. The importance of natural products was felt and a anumber of universities have made it a part of their curriculum. Search of different Natural Products i.e. extraction, isolation and characterisation is tough and time consuming. The students face a lot of problem in finding the material at one place. The present book has been designed in such a way so as to make it student-friendly. Chemistry of varities of natural products has been discussed ranging from terpenoids, steroids, alkaloids, pigments, prostaglandins, pyrethrins, rotenones, etc.

Prof. B.C. Joshi obtained D. Phil (1956) and (1966) from University of Allahabad. He served University of Allahabad, Garhwal University, Srinagar and University of Rajasthan, Jaiopur. He visited U.S.A. as Fullbright at Bryan Mawr College (1961 - 62); N.I.H., Bethesda (1964 - 65) and France as Visiting Professor (1988 - 89). He headed Chemistry Department, University of Rajasthan . 45 students were awarded Ph.D. under his supervision. He has published 145 research papers and 5 reviews in Journals of National and International repute. He was honoured for his outstanding contributions a number of time i.e. by H,H, Governer of Rajasthan, Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata etc. He has a series of books published to his credit at all levels form secondary to UG. His main research areas are chemistry of National Products and Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Prof. Suresh C. Ameta is working as Professor of Chemistry and Deab, Post-Graduate studies in Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He has thirty six years experience of teaching and research. He has successfully guided 50 Ph.D. students and published more than 200 research papers in Journals of National and International repute. He has received number of awards in his career and several on the coveted position of President, Indian Chemical society, Kolkata(2000-2001)
